Applications open: Friday September 16, 2016

  • - A series of examinations and selections will be conducted with a deadline set every Thursday.
  • - If not matched in the week you applied, you will be considered as a candidate the following week, with priority for matching.
  • - Since the chances of a successful application are higher in the early weeks, candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
  • - As soon as the full number of prospective interns have been matched, applications will no longer be accepted.
Intern destination Private-sector companies, industry associations, and non-profit corporations in Japan. Host companies are determined after matching by the Program Office and subsequent approval by the Screening Committee.
Internship period One to two months between mid-October and mid-December
The number of days and times of the internship will be determined by consultation between the three relevant parties—the host company, the intern, and the Program Office.
Application

Applicants satisfying all the following requirements are eligible.a

  • □Holding citizenship of an eligible country or region.
  • □Agreeing with the spirit of this program, and through the internship promoting internationalization of Japanese companies, developing the overseas business of Japanese companies, and working together to construct networks with overseas universities etc.
  • □Proficiency in Japanese language (JLPT level N3 or higher) or proficiency in English.
  • □As a rule, applicants should be at least 20 years of age and no older than 40.
  • □Must be resident in Japan, and as a general principle be enrolled in a course of university study.
  • □Applicants must be able to submit a school or university enrolment certificate as well as a letter of recommendation from a faculty member, affiliated university, etc.
  • □Applicants must be able to balance both the internship and preliminary training at the host company against their studies.
  • □Must have a valid residence visa for the internship period
  • □Other requirements meeting any individual conditions stipulated by the host company.

  • □Please apply by submitting an application form (located at the bottom of this page) with all the necessary information entered.
  • □Selection is conducted through document screening and interviews (Japanese/English).
  • □After interviews are complete, you will be required to individually submit various certificates (university qualifications, language skills, etc.) and letters of recommendation, etc.
Main support for
interns
  • 1. Living expenses: An allowance of 3,500 yen per day will be paid for the duration of the internship to cover living and accommodation expenses
  • 2. Internship insurance premium
  • 3. Preliminary training expenses and accommodation expenses (cash payment), transportation costs
Main
responsibilities of
interns
  • □Formulation of an internship plan, developed through consultation with the host company around the start of the internship
  • □Participating in preliminary training and follow-up training for interns, as well as presentation of results.
  • □Undertaking the internship full-time during the internship period
  • □Undertaking management of their own safety and health as thoroughly as possible, including gathering emergency information for Japan, as well as communication, reporting, and consultation with the Program Office and the host company
  • □Submitting a variety of documents, notifications, reports, evaluation reports, etc. before coming to Japan, as well as during and after the internship period
  • □Behavior demonstrating awareness as a beneficiary of public funds received from the Japanese government

Please be sure to confirm and agree with all the important points of
the registration process (listed below) before applying.

  1. 1. Even after applying for registration, matching with a company will not necessarily be successful.
  2. 2. Absolutely no inquiries will be answered in regard to the selection, interview, or matching process, including results of examination by the Screening Committee, the selection process, or selection results.
  3. 3. Even if an applicant been registered as an intern after successful matching and approval by the Screening Committee, if the applicant is found to significantly lack suitability as an intern under this program (for example, failing to recognize the importance of consultation and coordination with the host company or failing to cooperate in formulating an internship plan), or if the mission, contents, goals, etc. outlined in the internship plan are not consistent with the spirit of this program, the applicant’s acceptance as an intern is likely to be canceled.
  4. 4. Even if an applicant been registered as an intern after successful matching and approval by the Screening Committee, if the applicant is unable to acquire the necessary visa and permissions from the relevant ministries and agencies, the applicant’s acceptance as an intern is likely to be canceled.
  5. 5. Uncertainties in regard to the visa may cause applicants to be unable to finish the desired internship period in full.
  6. 6. Termination of internship partway through; If any of the following cases is applicable, the Program Office may decide to terminate the internship immediately without any advance notification.
    1. Ⅰ If the host company is forced to downscale its business, or in similar unavoidable circumstances.
    2. Ⅱ If the intern is judged incapable of continuing the internship in future due to mental or physical circumstances.
    3. Ⅲ If the intern’s attitude is remarkably poor, with no prospect of improvement.
    4. Ⅳ If the intern has caused harm or damage to the host company or the Program Office, either by intent or through negligence.
    5. Ⅴ If the intern fails to follow the guidance of the Program Office, or fails to comply with the precautions required for this program.
    6. Ⅵ If another reason equivalent to any of the foregoing circumstances is found to exist.
  7. 7. Since the internship is supported at public expense, the program’s results achieved through hosting of interns will be made public via official websites and similar media. For the 2016 fiscal year, an overview of each intern's name, country of origin, and details of internship at the host company will be disclosed, as well as information from interviews.
