What is the Japan Internship Program?
Through internships with overseas-based highly skilled foreign professionals, the Japan Internship Program aims to create an environment where such talent can thrive at Japan's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and regional companies, strengthen these companies' capacity for overseas expansion, and accelerate their growth. The program also offers highly skilled foreign professionals who are interested in working for Japanese companies the opportunity to gain a concrete sense of what working in Japan is like, thereby encouraging them to pursue employment in Japan.

Support for Building Systems to Host Highly Skilled Foreign Professionals
From designing an internship plan that draws on each intern's knowledge and skills, to matching, onboarding, and ongoing support throughout the internship, JIP Office coordinators are there every step of the way. Even companies hosting an internship or welcoming highly skilled foreign professionals for the first time can take part with complete peace of mind.
In addition, companies that are new to hiring highly skilled foreign professionals—or that have faced challenges with their current host-company setup—can access free expert consultations on recruitment, onboarding, training and retention, and career development. These consultations are offered in partnership with JETRO's Hands-on Support by Coordinators for Promoting Highly Skilled Foreign Professionals and provide tailored, one-on-one guidance from specialists.

This program offers internship opportunities to foreign professionals who wish to leverage their Japanese language ability and specialized expertise to contribute to the global growth of Japanese companies and pursue a future career in Japan.
Participants gain hands-on work experience in Japan while learning about Japanese culture and lifestyle.
