2years after the internship
Establish a foothold to establish an office in Vietnam. Improvement of the employees' international sense and awareness.
The intern worked in four departments (Product Department, General Affairs Department, Textile Department, and Tokyo Branch) in the company to communicate with employees and helped make a specific plan toward the realization of the establishment of an overseas branch.
We are a comprehensive textile and textile product manufacturer and have a Textile Department that exports domestic textiles and an OEM Department that sells products manufactured overseas. Export destinations are mainly Europe and the U.S. as well as China, Korea, and Vietnam. 99% of the overseas manufacturing bases were in China; however, due the impact of COVID-19, we are now considering transferring manufacturing bases to other countries in the future.
After the completion of the internship, Hang once returned to Vietnam and we concluded an employment contract for the future. She worked in Japan for one year before establishing an office in Vietnam and learned about our products and operations. Specifically, making plans toward the establishment of an office in Vietnam and searching for a local business partner, she was also actually involved in the export and import operations, which served as an opportunity for her to more deeply understand the strengths of KAWAGOSHI MASA's products. We thought that people coming to a different culture from overseas countries would feel lonely, so we first paid attention to giving consideration to her mental health. Because we thought that if she was mentally healthy , she would not be able to so her best. We assigned a mentor who continuously provided support for the aspect of life since she was in the internship and we paid careful attention to her living circumstance as well. Because Hang had experience through her internship, she could fit in fine with the company after joining and played an active role.
The visible outcome is that we could actually establish an office in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. In terms of the aspect of organizations in the company, our employees' barrier of awareness of overseas countries was lowered thanks to Hang and by knowing her fine character, our employees were able to work with a fresh mind. In addition, the challenging and positive attitude that excellent foreign human resources possess has had a positive influence on our employees. Hang went back to Ho Chi Minh at the end of March 2020 and has been managing the office alone since April. For that reason, we did not have any particular problem in communicating with Vietnam amid the impact of the COVID-19 thanks to her and because she continued working in Japan for one year after the completion of her internship, she could build relationships of trust with our employees. I think it was because she was actually involved in the export and import operations and we set the sufficient preparation period.
Hang is cheerful and positive and has a wonderful personality. Thanks to her, we are now able to easily develop overseas strategies. She made a one-year plan for the office in Vietnam and a medium-term plan, and everything has been proceeding as planned. We can trust her to do everything ranging from personnel distribution in the Vietnam branch to management, etc. and we are now considering expanding into Southeast Asian countries, such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. During the internship, we had a lot of problem, such as various procedures to go through (daily reports and various applications) and preparations for acceptance but you will surely get the results, and that is my actual feeling. Particularly for SMEs, opportunities to be able to match excellent human resources do not occur often, so I recommend this internship system.
I have been working as a representative of a Vietnamese subsidiary of KAWAGOSHI MASA from April 1, 2020. Because I joined the company after experiencing the internship and could know a lot about the company's work and employees before joining the company, I believe this is the place where I can work with satisfaction. The first thing about KAWAGOSHI MASA's strengths is the president's personality. He thinks about the employees and asks me if I am having any problem. I think there is an atmosphere where his thoughts are properly conveyed to the employees and the employees can easily say their opinions. For that reason, if there is a problem, everyone gets together and solves the problem, there is such an atmosphere. My future goals is to qualify as an accountant while working at the office in Vietnam. Because in Vietnam, if you get a qualification called Chief Accountant, you do not need to hire an accountant. For Japanese language, I am studying for N2. I am grateful for the international internship program that gave me such an opportunity. I would like them to continue implementing this.
