Satisfaction with activities at the time of the internship ★★★★★5.0/5.0
Very satisfied. The intern was fluent in Japanese, smoothly communicated with our employees, and became friendly with them on the first day. The only problem was that the intern wanted to go far away on the weekend (lol). At that time, the intern was not allowed to go far away alone, so someone had to go with him, such as a marathon race, vacation rental, etc., which was a little tough, but I believe because he could enjoy life in Japan and was able to thoroughly put effort into internship activities. The advantages of acceptance are getting to know each other's cultures and to be able to create new ways of thinking and awareness of life and work by working and living together, instead of one-way communication. If accepting an intern again, we want to work on building the foundation to launch a new business by taking advantage of diversity.
What I felt the most in accepting the intern was the importance of communication. After accepting the intern, Japanese employees talked about the intern's local stories and their communication increased. Regarding a different culture and the difference in way of thinking, I think these things became common while working and living together every day. We still communicate with various countries for business and because of that experience, everyone at the company carries out tasks without regard for the fact that they are communicating with overseas countries. Of course, the field survey results and product brochures that he worked on during his internship activities play an active role when making business trips to Thailand. It has been four years since we accepted the intern, but I still contact him and if we will expand our business to Thailand, we will ask for his cooperation, depending on his circumtances at that time.
While the world situation changes on a daily basis, I also feel that Japan's international positioning and what is required in business are rapidly changing. Rather than taking a passive role, our company would like to be a company that leads those changes. To keep gazing at essential needs with "People" at the core in a diversifying society, I think it is necessary to connect with diverse human resources, such as interns, and build more relationships that influence one another. We positioned the acceptance of an intern in 2016 as one of challenges, and by using this positive experience gained from the internship activities, we would like to hire diverse human resources regardless of nationality and try new things.
There are many things that companies can get from acceptance an intern, and it is important to try accepting an intern first. Once the intern has been decided, it is very important to contact him/her in advance and exchange information, and by explaining the business outline and conducting hearings on the tasks the intern wishes to work on, I think tasks will be performed smoothly. Even so, a bit of discrepancy occurs; therefore, it is necessary to think about how the company would like to make use of the intern. It would also be better to have discussions in the company prior to acceptance, conduct team building, and think on what things would be necessary and with what kinds of problems one would have faced if one were go to a company as an intern. Finally, regarding the person in charge who will participate in advance training held by the secretariat, I recommend the person in charge of the intern participates in training because a relationship with the intern can be built in training.
